Con #letsencrypt se quiere cifrar toda la web (https), ahora la @eff quiere hacer algo similar con #STARTTLSEverywhere pero para proteger el tráfico del correo electrónico.

We take Lets Encrypt for granted these days, but imagine you host a $5 per month server just for your needs and had to buy a $100 SSL certificate for it. Wouldn't you be discouraged from self-hosting in the first place?

@kris @maiyannah, the main #postActiv dev has had some problems with certbot renewing sites' #LetsEncrypt certs. Maybe there is a mirror of the repo somewhere else? In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink -

@tao seems to be a lot of hating on #LetsEncrypt of late. Why is offering free HTTPS certs so evil? They used to cost hundreds of $ a year In conversation from quitter.se permalink -

@peemee just checked: mastodon.xyz certificate comes from #letsencrypt and is valid at the moment.

Hm, apparently #letsencrypt now provides mor than 50% of the web certificates.
On one hand: FUCKING AWESOME.
On the other: Shit. They're getting very powerful and we are centralizing our trust. I think we could reallu use 2-3 new orgs like Letsencrypt, with similar technology and mission statement, but entirely independent.
Are there any out there yet?

@budkin ok. Have you been in touch with #LetsEncrypt about this? If so, what do they say? In conversation from quitter.se permalink -

Say I am running two web servers using #docker on the same machine (same domain name), do I need to run #LetsEncrypt only once and then configure the two docker images with those certs?
Running the official LetsEncrypt docker image while the other servers are running gives a bind error on port 80 even though I am exposing to host 8080 and 8008 :psyduck:

So I have successfully installed #Matrix and #MediaGoblin with #Docker. Now the hard part seems configuring #HTTPS with #LetsEncrypt.

Otra dudilla ya que estamos.
Teniendo un certificado de #Letsencrypt en el mismo dominio para !gnusocial ¿necesito uno nuevo para #prosody o me vale el mismo?

Alright. I think all my subdomains are using the wildcard cert now. Used the command in this guide to have #LetsEncrypt generate it: https://www.bennadel.com/blog/3420-obtaining-a-wildcard-ssl-certificate-from-letsencrypt-using-the-dns-challenge.htm In conversation from sn.chromic.org at 45°25'15"N 75°41'24"W permalink -

@pettter @bob If some of the resources going to #LetsEncrypt were made available to shore up and certify #CACert, they might be the 2nd source that is needed. In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink
